Learners will gain a thorough understanding of the role of botulinum toxin in aesthetic practice. They will explore facial anatomy in depth, focusing on the muscles involved in various facial expressions and their associated actions.

The course will cover the clinical application of botulinum toxin, including effective consultation, clinical assessment, treatment planning, dosage calculation, and the technique of injecting botulinum toxin to soften wrinkles and reduce muscle activity in the upper face.

Learners will be taught proper injection techniques for treating three key areas of the upper face.

Assessment Overview: During the practical assessment, learners will be supervised while completing a consultation, correctly diluting the toxin, mapping out the treatment plan to achieve the desired results, and safely administering the toxin to avoid complications on live models. They will also be expected to provide accurate aftercare advice.

Pass/Fail Criteria: Delegates will not fail the course outright but may be asked to return for additional practical sessions if they are not deemed competent. A certificate will only be issued once the delegate meets the pass criteria, ensuring they demonstrate the necessary skills and knowledge to practice safely.

Learners will receive a comprehensive understanding of dermal fillers in aesthetic practice. They will gain an in-depth knowledge of facial anatomy, focusing on the ageing face and lip anatomy, exploring the underlying causes of ageing, appropriate corrective treatments and how to treat lips. 

The course will cover the clinical application of  basic dermal fillers, including conducting effective consultations, clinical assessments, treatment planning, and dosage. Students will also learn the art of injecting dermal fillers to meet patient expectations and rejuvenate the face. Areas covered- Nasolabial folds, marionette lines and lips. 

Learners will be taught the correct injection techniques for treating three common indications for dermal fillers.

Practical Assessment: Under supervision, learners will be required to complete a full consultation, select the appropriate dermal filler for the treatment area, determine the correct depth and dosage, and map out a treatment plan to achieve the desired results. They must safely administer dermal filler on live models, remain mindful of potential complications, and use techniques to prevent them. Additionally, learners will be expected to provide accurate aftercare advice.

Learners will gain a comprehensive understanding of complication recognition, treatment, and management for patients from diverse ethnic backgrounds. The course will cover potential complications that may arise during or following aesthetic injectable treatments, as well as the common causes behind these complications.

Learners will be taught proactive steps to prevent complications during aesthetic injectable procedures and will also gain the knowledge needed to identify when a complication has occurred. Additionally, they will learn how to effectively manage complications to ensure patient safety.

Assessment: There is no pass or fail for this course, as it is designed to provide knowledge and understanding. Trainers will demonstrate key concepts, and learners will not be required to perform any practical procedures. Throughout the course, there will be active discussion and a Q&A session to reinforce the material.
